If i'm not mistaken there was a recent hypothesis that asperger has its roots in a dysfunction of the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-ergic system and there's some data showing that Gabapentin could potentially remediate some of the atypicalities that come along with autism. Although some suggest that GABA can be used to address multiple symptoms of autism, the evidence indicates that autistic individuals might not benefit from GABA supplementation due to physiological and chemical challenges.
