Mine decided it was time to take me off and put me on gabapentin instead. I was taken off in a 10 day taper and spent over 100 days in psych hospital and lost my mind I still have issues 4 years later. Success Story w/ meds for my DP/DR and Existential anxiety/ocd Really don't go off one single redditor's anecdote, benzos can cause an overactive brain to shut the fuck up which can alleviate DPDR but there's far better drugs for that specific purpose, even an antihistamine, hydroxizine which is pretty harmless and good for sleep too. I’m so tired of being told by people who have had DPDR for 3 days that I need to focus on other things and it will go away that doesn’t work for complex trauma shutdown. I sometimes will do gabapentin first because it’s cheaper in the US and less risk of weight gain, which can be problematic on pregabalin. If they don’t like gabapentin I’ll try pregabalin. I had an older guy fail SRI’s and was taking lorazepam daily and we’ve been able to cut it down to ~2x/week with just pregabalin. YMMV. As the other poster said, it does have good evidence and its Gabapentin made my symptoms much worse. Has anyone had positive experiences taking GABA supplements ? If so , did you mix it with your lamotrigine or would that even be helpful ? I had a similar problem since majority of those are anti depressants and my issue was exclusively anxiety causing dpdr and panic attacks. I found a miracle med for me that was prescribed for nerve pain, neurontin (gabapentin). It took me a while to find this was why my anxiety and dpdr was non existent. We would like to show you a description here but the site won’t allow us. It’s taken me a long time to reduce my dpdr periods, but after many years of treatment by different doctors, I’ve found the meds that help me considerably. I take Cymbalta too, along with Buspar and Lamictal, and I rarely experience severe anxiety or dpdr symptoms. I'd be curious if they've got links to proof it's helped for dp/dr? I do know gabapentin is usually prescribed off-label, but I'm a bit alarmed at how they're throwing it at 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 nowadays. Do they mean to switch you to gabapentin, or add it? Gabapentin helps with withdraw effects and pain but doesn't seem to cut it for my anxiety. Still amazing for pain but I might need an increase in the dosage. How much were you prescribed? Was prescribed gabapentin awhile back for anxiety but didn’t take it and I get these DPDR symptoms all the time . Anyone use gabapentin and did it We would like to show you a description here but the site won’t allow us. Welcome to /r/gabapentin, here we primarily discuss issues pertaining to the medical, prescribed use of Gabapentin, Lyrica and Phenibut, as well as other Gaba related drugs. This IS NOT the subreddit for discussion of how to get high or otherwise abuse GP. I've had lifelong DPDR (depersonalization-derealization disorder) from elementary school through high school, college, and into my 30s. Had some periods of recoveries and relapses. Trying weed, psilocybin, and going through antidepressant withdrawals triggered some severe episodes. My miracle med is Gabapentin (Neurontin). I was prescribed this for nerve pain but I, like many others, have found it so beneficial for anxiety. It keeps any dpdr away. The gabapentin also does a good job taking care of the anxiety because it basically takes the edge off of me feeling so paranoid about realness. Eventually though it’s a gradual one thing, it’s not something that happens overnight. Eventually you will find yourself noticing your realness but it takes time. Gabapentins side effects for women 60& older . More Gabby stomach issues! Allergic to gabapentin? Please help me! Mental horror stopping gabapentin. I have so much gabapentin it’s crazy. My doctor prescribed it but it does nothing for my anxiety on it’s own, personally. I’m now on Ativan but he continues to prescribe the gabapentin. Sometimes I take it with my Ativan if I have a severe panic attack and that will help a bit. I dont exercise at all, as I feel faint from standing. Yes, I have dpdr and anxiety, rarely insomnia. I take htp5 for dpdr and anxiety
