Gabapentin is commonly used to treat and prevent seizures in people with epilepsy or to treat nerve pain (postherpetic neuralgia) that can occur after a viral infection called shingles. Gabapentin and Gabarone are also approved as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of partial onset seizures, with and without secondary generalization, in adults and children ≥ 3 years of age with epilepsy.
