I take 600 mg of gabapentin a night for anxiety and bipolar disorder. I am not allowed to have stimulants due to it possibly causing a manic episode and I have to limit my caffeine during the day as well. I am constantly sleepy and am not sure what to do. Any suggestions to battle the extreme sleepiness with these restrictions? The idea is that you take it at night to avoid the drowsiness and still get the benefit of it during the day. I don't know if that's something you're interested in? I was a total insomniac before taking gabapentin, so the drowsiness is a bit of a blessing for me! I take a much smaller dose during the day and then a larger dose at night so I can sleep through the pain. I also use gabapentin in combination with ketamine cream and nortriptyline so I don't need to be on the max dose of the gabapentin.
