DESCRIPTION Neurontin® (gabapentin) Capsules, Neurontin (gabapentin) Tablets, and Neurontin (gabapentin) Oral Solution are supplied as imprinted hard shell capsules containing 100 mg, 300 mg, and 400 mg of gabapentin, elliptical film-coated tablets containing 600 mg and 800 mg of gabapentin or an oral solution containing 250 mg/5 mL of gabapentin. Gabapentin oral solution contains 250 mg of gabapentin per 5 mL (50 mg per mL) and the following inactive ingredients: anise flavor, artificial strawberry flavor, glycerin, hydrochloric acid, purified water, sodium hydroxide and xylitol. Sugar-free syrups and elixirs used as medicinal bases (eg, liquid gabapentin formulations) also frequently contain xylitol. Ingestion of xylitol or xylitol-containing products by dogs can result in development of hypoglycemia and, less commonly, hepatic injury or failure. The Gabapentin 50 mg/ml Xylitol Free Oral Liquid (Vet) is a specially crafted medication designed for veterinary use, providing a precise and easily administered solution for animals who experience difficulty with swallowing tablets or capsules. This formulation is free from xylitol, making it a safer option for pets, as xylitol can be harmful to animals. The liquid dosage form ensures If the human liquid form of gabapentin which contains xylitol is overdosed, life threatening drops in blood sugar levels and liver damage are possible.
