I have used gabapentin for more than one dog over the years and did not note any side effects. I think I would prefer the liquid if I could get it, easier to slip into the food. Just mix it with a spoonful of his favorite soft food and observe him eat it. Hi all, I have a 4 lb, 13 year old female chihuahua. We are in California. She has a minor shoulder injury and was prescribed gabapentin in liquid form yesterday. The vet tech didn't tell me it needed to be refrigerated and I only noticed the small "needs refrigeration" sticker on the bottle this morning. As he’s an only cat and good at eating his meals, I put the dose right on his food. Otherwise you can purrito her and give it in her mouth.
